The Woollahra Hotel is one of the most recognisable and long-standing venues in Woollahra, celebrated for its vibrant food, drink and social culture since the earliest days of European settlement in the area. On the corner of Queen St and Moncur St, opposite Australia Post,a building was erected in 1880 and was owned by Henry Ackland, who already owned two other hotels in the area.

In the late 1930s, a new Woollahra Hotel was opened, bringing a more modern and sophisticated interior design offering a comfortable and elegant and free space.

Located on the corner of Queen Street and Moncur Street, directly opposite Australia Post, the original hotel building was erected in 1880. Owned by Henry Ackland—who also ran two other hotels nearby—the venue quickly became a social hub for residents and travellers during Woollahra’s early development.

Bistro Moncur, an award-winning restaurant, opened in the 1990s, bringing elevated French-inspired dining that attracted both locals and visitors from across Sydney.
