Discover Woollahra:

A Historic and Creative Suburb in Sydney

Woollahra is located on the traditional land of the Birrabirragal and Gadigal people of the Eora Nation

The name Woollahra is of Aboriginal origin, meaning "one who looks out". Located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, Woollahra officially became a suburb in New South Wales during the mid-19th century, following rapid urbanisation. The name was formally adopted in 1860 with the establishment of the Township of Woollahra.

By the early 20th century,Woollahra had developed into a thriving and prosperous community, home to a wide range of economic activities. The suburb featured factories, dairies, banks, schools, and an increasing number of local shops, reflecting its growing importance in Sydney’s urban landscape.

During the 1960s to 1980s , Woollahra emerged as a hub for creativity and culture, becoming a key destination for artists, fashion designers, jewellers, food artisans and Art Gallery .

Paddington Market:

A pivotal moment in this cultural evolution was the launch of Paddington Market in 1973, which played a vital role in shaping the area's artistic identity. Many notable creatives—including Sarah-Jane Miller, Nicky, and Simone Zimmermann—showcased their early work at Paddington Market.

The continued success of Paddington Market, combined with the suburb’s charming heritage architecture and village-like atmosphere, made Woollahra an increasingly attractive location for property investors and developers.

Woollahra Real Estate Market:

Today, Woollahra Real Estate Market is regarded as one of the most prestigious and competitive property markets in Australia, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and modern lifestyle.
